What you'll need:

• Heavy-duty cardstock

• Glue stick

• Scissors

• 6 cotton balls

• White Glue

• Tape

• Colored Pencils, crayons, or markers: Purple/Blue/Green/Yellow/Orange/Red

• Optional: Laminator

• Rainbow Printout pattern

How to make it:

1. Print out the Rainbow pattern pieces.  There are two of them.  Glue them to cardstock (any color) with a glue stick and color with colored pencils, crayons, or markers.

2. Cut out your cloud/rainbow shapes.

3. At this point, if you want, you can laminate your rainbows for extra strength and trim away the excess lamination.  Don’t worry about trimming away the excess lamination in the center of the rainbow, as this will add extra stability to your rainbow.

4. Cut 6 cotton balls carefully in half and glue them to the cloud shapes with the white glue.  You may need to stretch your cotton balls to fill in the space. If you do not have cotton balls, color your clouds with crayons.

5. When your glue is dry, use your scissors to make slits in the rainbow shapes where indicated.  These slots allow the two pieces to fit together.  Fit the rainbow with the longest slot on top of the rainbow with the smaller slot.  If your rainbows are not laminated you may need to use two small pieces of tape on the backside of the rainbows for extra stability and to keep them joined together. 

You can now place your 3D rainbow on any flat surface and enjoy.  If you want to hang your rainbow, use a hole punch to make holes at the top of the rainbow with the shorter slit on either side of the other rainbow. Thread string through the two holes and hang.
