Kids love ice cream and this cute ice cream craft project is more than cool – it’s also a game. It’s perfect - both as a craft & party favor for any birthday or picnic! Try out our easy-to-make No Churn Ice Cream recipe for more ice cream fun!
What you'll need:
-
1 sheet of brown foam
-
1 shoestring
-
1 plastic drink cup
-
Duct tape
-
1 bath puff (we got ours 2 for $1 at Target)
-
Brown or black sharpie
-
Hole punch
-
Hot Glue
-
Clothespin
-
Scissors
How to make it:
Warning: This project definitely needs some adult prep and help with the hot glue, so grab a grown-up!

-
Take your drink cup and cut down one side and remove the bottom. Use the duct tape to tape it back together narrowing the cup a little at the bottom. The foam sheet is not very strong so we use the cup for extra support.
-
Take your sharpie and draw criss-cross lines on the brown foam to resemble the marking on an ice cream cone.
-
Next, wrap your foam around the cup forming it into a cone. Leave a small opening at the narrow end of your cone. Holding the cone in your hand, use your scissors to trim off the excess foam that sticks up above the rim of the cup, and towards the bottom also where it wraps around the front.
-
Secure the top of the cone with a clothespin and carefully hot glue along the edges of the foam cone. When the glue sets, remove the clothespin.
-
Remove the cup from the cone and take your hole punch and punch a small hole in the bottom front of your cone. Insert your shoelace and tie it off, running it up through the top of the cone.
-
Replace your cup into the cone, nestling it down into the cone below the rim. Carefully hot glue the cup into the foam cone along the top edge.
-
The bath puff comes with a loop. Attach your shoestring to this loop and tie it off, trimming the excess.
Now you are ready to play the game! Let the ice cream scoop hang down out of the cone on the string and see if you can swing the string and place the scoop in the cup. It’s lots of fun and a great take-home party favor at a party!
