Liberty Torch 4th of July Treats

Have fun being patriotic with these easy Independence Day treats.  Kids love crispy rice treats and these will be right up there with the easiest treats for a big crowd.  Using the ice cream cones cuts down on a lot of sticky fingers, and these cuties won’t melt at the picnic!  Have fun making our other fun and easy 4th of July themed kid craft projects and activities too.

What you'll need:

  • 12 Regular cake ice cream cones

  • Pastry brush

  • Green and orange food coloring

  • Marshmallows (one package)

  • Rice Crispies (around 8 cups)

  • Butter & Non-Stick cooking spray

How to make it:

  1. In a small container, put two tablespoons of water and 4-5 drops of green food coloring. Using your pastry brush, paint your cones with the dye mixture and set them aside to fully dry.  You want them coated but not soggy.

  2. In a large pot, melt 2 tablespoons of butter. Add orange food coloring to the butter and then add your marshmallows.

  3. Take your pot off the heat and add your Rice Crispies stirring until evenly coated.

  4. Take the nonstick cooking spray and spray your hands.  Scoop the crispy treat mixture into the cones and shape into flame-like ends.  Continue filling all the cones and respraying your hands as needed.

  5. Set the cones aside to cool completely.

Then lift your torch and enjoy!
