Coffee Filter Ghosts

Oooooh, spooky – but not too spooky.  If you are looking for a quick to put together little Halloween spook, then this is the kid craft project for you.    Make up an entire bevy of spookables with three versions of coffee filter ghosts. And try out our other Kidfunideas Halloween projects too.

Version one – Uses Cone shaped coffee filters

What you'll need:

  • Cone Coffee filters

  • Scissors

  • Black Marker to draw in the face

  • Peel and stick Googly eyeballs or, Googly eyes and white glue

  • Fishing line to hang

  • Straight pin ( like for sewing)

  •

How to make it:

  1. Turn your coffee filter inside out with the seams of the filter inside.

  2. Glue or peel and stick the eyes into place. (Tip: using two different size eyeballs for a goofy look)

  3. Draw in the mouth shape below the eyes after the eyes are dry.  Place a paper towel or piece of paper inside your filter so that the ink does not bleed onto the other side of the filter.

  4. To hang – use your straight pin to poke two holes in the upper back of your filter.  Thread the fishing line in one hole and out the other.  Tie at the end.  Tape to the ceiling or to tree branches with tape.

  •

  1. For this version, you will need 3 basket filters.  Take your three filters and fold them in half.  Take the first coffee filter and open it up.  Take the second filter tape the folded filter to the inside of the first filter 1 inch down from the fold.  Take the third filter and tape it inside of the second filter one inch down. This should give you a nice graduated look.

  2. Flatten your filters down and fold the two sides in about an inch and then take that fold and fold it back out taping it down.

  3. Turn your ghost over and add your eyeballs.  Glue or peel and stick the eyes into place. (Tip: using two different size eyeballs for a goofy look)

  4. Draw in the mouth shape below the eyes after the eyes are dry.

  5. To hang – use your straight pin or hole punch to make two holes in the top back of your filter.  Thread the fishing line in one hole and out the other.  Tie at the end.  Tape to the ceiling or to tree branches with tape
