Horse Paperbag Puppet

Giddy up partner and try these quick to make paper bag horse puppets.  They are super cute and are a fun kid’s craft activity for a classroom or  even a cowboy themed birthday party. They make great take home party favors!

What you'll need:

  • Small paper bowl

  • Paper bag

  • Brown paint & brush

  • Construction Paper: Brown, Black, Red, Blue, White

  • Black Marker

  • Scissors

  • Glue Stick

  • Tape

  • Stapler

  • Horse Puppet Pattern

How to make it:

  1. Paint the bottom of the paper bowl brown & let dry.

  2. Print out the Horse Puppet pattern and cut out the shapes in the color construction paper as indicated.

  3. Glue the white stripe onto the horses face in the center.

  4. Glue on the eyes on either side of the white stripe.  Use your black marker to make a pupil in the center of the eye.

  5. Attach the hair at the top of the stripe with glue.

  6. To attach the ears: Make a pleat fold on the straight edge of the ear and tape to the back of the head piece at the top.

  7. Glue the face piece to the front of the bag about an 1 ½” from the fold.  Secure it in the back also with a piece of tape.

  8. When your bowl is dry, add two nostrils and a smile on the bottom of the bowl.  Attach the bowl to the bag with staples on either side of the bag sides.

  9. Attach the bandana piece under the muzzle of the horse’s face with glue.  Add some details to the bandana if you like.

That’s it, Yee Haw!
