My Little Picnic Table

This fun kid’s craft project is made with Popsicle sticks and is the perfect companion project to our Little Picnic pals.  The kids love pretending to have a picnic at a table they made all by themselves.

What you'll need:

  • 8 large popsicle sticks

  • White Glue & sponge brush

  • One small paper bowl

  • One toilet paper tube

  • Scissor

  • Clothespins to hold your project while drying

How to do it:

  1. Take a toilet paper tube and cut it in half.  You now have two pieces.  These will be the base for your benches.  Flatten the top and bend the cut edges inward about ½ “.  You will be gluing Popsicle sticks to the flat part so make it as flat as possible.

  2. With the sponge brush, glue two Popsicle sticks side by side to the flattened bench base.  Use the clothespins to keep the sticks in place while they dry.  Repeat this for the other bench.

  3. For the table, we are going to use 4 Popsicle sticks.  On the big sticks that measure around 3” across.  Using your scissors, cut the sides off two sides of the bowl.  This will be your table base.  Bend the bowls edges inward to make it sturdier.  Make the base as flat as possible on top.

  4. Glue 4 Popsicle sticks to the top of your table base.  Secure them with clothespins while they dry.

  5. Once your table and benches are dry, remove the clothespins.  You can make them even spiffier with markers to draw on placemats or food.

You now have a mini picnic table and benches!  You can use these with your action figures or make our companion project: Picnic pals
