Grass Buddies

These adorable little Grass Buddies are such a cheery sign of Spring.  As part of our Garden Adventures theme, we used Egg Shells and tiny terracotta pots to grow grass seed hair for our Garden Buddies.  Personalize them however you like, change faces, add a bow or braces, it’s up to you.  These also look great sitting at the kitchen table as a pop of color.    You can plant grass or even flower seeds. Check out our other fun Garden theme crafts too!

What you'll need:

  • Tiny terra-cotta pot or eggshell

  • Grass buddy face print out

  • Scissors

  • Mod Podge and foam brush

  • Potting soil

  • Grass or flower seed.

  •

How to make it:

  1. Print out and choose a Garden Buddy face printout.  If you are using an eggshell, use the white faces or paint your terra cotta pot white first.  If you are using an unpainted terra cotta pot, use the brown faces.

  2. Trim out your face of choice and use Mod Podge to glue it to the side of your cleaned-out eggshell or to the side of your pot.

  3. Apply a layer or two of Mod Podge over the faces and around the outside of your container.  Let dry between coats.

  4. Use a teaspoon to carefully add soil to your container and sprinkle with grass seed.  Cover with a thin layer of soil and water.

  5. Set aside your container.  Keep your seeds moist but not wet.  Soon the grass will begin to sprout.  Trim as desired.

  6. If you are using flower seed and eggshells, you can transplant your flowers into your garden, shell and all.
