What you'll need:
-
10 - 15 Plastic newspaper cover bags (the kind they put your newspaper in on rainy days)
-
1 toilet paper tube
-
Duct Tape
-
Scissors
-
Stapler
-
-
How to make it:
-
Stack your bags together, pressing out the air and straightening them. Make sure that all the closed ends are lined up together. For fluffier pom-poms, use more bags. Tip: if you don’t have any of these plastic bags you can use supermarket bags. Most supermarkets have a recycling area where they collect plastic bags. If you ask the store manager for some, they are usually agreeable. Just clip off the handle and follow the remaining steps.
-
At this time, you can add strips of ribbon if you like, taping them to the closed end of the top bag, at the center point, and at the other end of the bags. You can add more ribbon if you like by lifting off a group of bags and adding more ribbon to that section, taping at the bag closed-end, at the center point, and to the other end of the bag. Restack the bags on top of each other.
-
Carefully fold them in half.
-
Staple the bags along the center folded end about 1 inch down from the fold.
-
Take scissors and trim off the closed bag ends
-
Use scissors to cut from the open ends up to within 3 inches of the stapled ends. If you have stacked more than 10 bags, separate the sections and cut a few at a time. Don’t worry if you cut some of the ribbon, it will look fine when it is done. Remove any tape from the ends as you go.
-
Wrap the folded end around the toilet paper tube about ¾ of the way down.
-
Wrap duct tape around the folded end to secure it.
-
Carefully bend in the toilet paper tube to close the end and cover with duct tape.
-
Last, add one more strip of tape around the tube to cover any edges.
Go, Team!
