What’s better on a cold and chilly afternoon than a mug of warm and creamy Hot Cocoa.  We’ve got our recipe that can be made into an adorable gift for the holidays.  With just a few ingredients, a mason jar, and a little ribbon, kids can make fun little gifts for their teacher, friends, or family.  This is a great companion project with our cute Cocoa Mug craft too!

 

What you’ll need for the Hot Cocoa Mix:

• 1 Cup Unsweetened Cocoa powder

• 1 cup brown sugar

• 1 cup granulated sugar

• 1 teaspoon kosher salt

• 3 teaspoons cornstarch

• 1 vanilla bean split in half and scraped of seeds

 

How to make it:

1. Measure all the ingredients into the bowl of a food processor and process until all the ingredients are combined. 

What you’ll need for the Jar:

• One 3 cup Ball Canning Jar

• Small Ziploc snack size bag

• Mini Marshmallows

• 6 Mini Candy Canes

• Ribbon

• To /From Tag  & directions printout

• Glue stick

• Hole punch

 

How to make the kit:

1. Print out the To/From tag & trim away the excess paper.  Fold the tag in half and laminate if desired.  Trim away the excess lamination and make a hole at the top of the card with a hole punch.  Address your card, thread with string and set aside.

2. Using a wide mouth funnel, add the Coco mix to the Mason jar and tap the bottom of the jar to level the mixture inside the jar. 

3. Place your baggie of mini marshmallows on top of the Coco mix.

4. Next, take the 6 mini candy canes and gently insert 5 into the jar around the bag of marshmallows, placing the 6th candy cane on top of the marshmallow bag before closing the lid.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

1. Attach a ribbon around the top of the lid and then attach your To/From tag.
